Junior Electrochemist (m/f/d)

Your mission

You will play a key role in supporting the development and scale-up of our electrochemical process for silicon production, operating in high-temperature environments from laboratory to pilot scale.

Your main mission will be to execute electrochemical test campaigns, operate and maintain high-temperature furnace systems, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our process and experimental setups.

You will work closely with senior scientists and engineers in a dynamic, hands-on environment where innovation, curiosity, and collaboration are essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Execute electrochemical test campaigns using techniques like CV, CA, CP and EIS.
  • Operate and maintain electrochemical test setups (2-, 3-, and 4-electrode configurations) and high-temperature furnaces used in silicon production.
  • Prepare electrolytes and materials, assemble and maintain cells and test rigs.
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation of high-temperature and high-current systems in accordance with established safety protocols.
  • Monitor, record, and perform basic data analysis, identifying trends, anomalies, or deviations.
  • Support the design, assembly, and improvement of experimental setups and pilot cells.
  • Assist in equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain detailed and organized test logs and reports for traceability.
  • Collaborate closely with senior scientists and engineers to translate lab findings into scalable processes.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment.

Qualifications

The candidate must:

  • Have a Master’s degree (Bac+5) in Electrochemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with electrodeposition processes and/or electrochemical systems (2-, 3-, or 4-electrode setups).
  • Proficiency with core electrochemical techniques such as CV, CA, CP, EIS.
  • Have interest or experience in high-temperature electrochemical processes (e.g. molten salts, thermal materials testing, or furnace-based experiments).
  • Be comfortable working in a lab- and hardware-focused environment, with evolving and experimental systems.
  • Be practical, proactive, and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and curiosity.
  • Be able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small, multidisciplinary team.
  • Be fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Have experience with furnace operation, vacuum systems, or thermochemical processes is a strong asset.

Why should you join Kore Metals?
